Bell Branch Park Expansion Plans in Gambrills, MD
If you live in Gambrills, Crofton, or the surrounding Anne Arundel County area, there’s a local project you may want to keep an eye on.
Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks is currently seeking community feedback on three draft concepts for the expansion of Bell Branch Park in Gambrills.
And if you use the park—or simply care about recreational spaces in our community—this is an opportunity to share your thoughts before the planning moves forward.
What Is Being Planned at Bell Branch Park?
The proposed project involves the study and preliminary planning of expanded recreational facilities at Bell Branch Park, located at:
📍 1150 Barbara Swann Way, Gambrills, MD 21054
According to Anne Arundel County, the expansion would involve a 22-acre parcel acquired by the County in 2026.
The project is currently listed in the planning stage, with a feasibility study and master plan underway.
What Could Be Added?
The County says potential additions being studied include:
Multipurpose athletic fields
A roller hockey rink
Associated landscaping
Stormwater management
Parking
These are potential improvements rather than finalized plans, which is why community feedback is important at this stage.
Three Concepts Are Available for Review
Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks has released three draft concept designs for residents to review.
Each concept presents a possible approach to expanding the park, giving the community an opportunity to consider how the additional space could be used.
Residents can review Concept 1, Concept 2, and Concept 3 through the Bell Branch Park project page on the Anne Arundel County website.

Why Local Projects Like This Matter
One of the things I love about living and working around Crofton and Gambrills is the access to parks, recreation, community events, shopping, restaurants, and so many everyday amenities close to home.
Projects like the Bell Branch Park expansion are also a reminder that communities continue to evolve.
And right now, residents have an opportunity to participate in that process by reviewing the proposed concepts and sharing what they'd like to see.
If Bell Branch Park is part of your family's routine, which of the three concepts do you prefer?
